Study Away program
If you are a current University of Minnesota student, you have the opportunity to enroll in a unique, semester-long program at any of the U of M campuses called Study Away. The campuses are Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, and Twin Cities.
In the Study Away program, courses are packaged in particular program areas for you to be able to expand your education and experience a different part of Minnesota. As part of the course of study, you may be able to finish the majority of credits for a minor.
Apply and register
To apply, fill out the Application for University of Minnesota Study Away Program. Use the contact information on the form for your home campus with any questions.
Once your application is approved, you will be able to register in MyU. You are required to register for enough credits to maintain full-time status and must register for only courses that are part of the Study Away program.
Just like any course at the U of M, there may be prerequisites associated with the classes you want to take. You may need to obtain permission numbers for some. View the courses available in the Study Away program at each campus:
The Study Away program is specifically for residential study at another campus in a particular full-semester program. If you are considering taking classes at another campus but do not wish to participate in the Study Away program, read about multi-institutional status.
If you have applied and registered for Study Away, but need to change your plans, speak with your home campus office that is listed on the Study Away application. Multi-institutional status may be another option for you.
