Changing Major, Minor, or Adviser

You can change your major, minor or adviser at any time.

Major/Minor

It's not at all uncommon for students to change their majors three or four times while attending UMM. Each time you wish to change your major, complete the Major/Minor Change Form and submit it on-line or print a copy and return it to the Advising Office, located in 10 Student Center. Changes will be reflected after overnight system updates.

Adviser

Prior to your first semester at UMM, you are asked to identify which majors interest you the most. This choice (including "undecided" or area of concentration) is entered into your record and used to generate APAS* reports. The Advising Office staff will assign you an adviser with expertise in your area of interest.

To make a change, students will need to fill out an Adviser Change Form to have the appropriate APAS* report and adviser assignment on record. Changes will be reflected after overnight system updates.

*APAS is the University's degree audit system. It helps you keep track of how your credits count toward a UMM degree.
